Eastbourne & DCS Premier Open Show 26th June 2022

EASTBOURNE & DISTRICT CANINE SOCIETY PREMIER OPEN SHOW 26TH JUNE 2022

Thank you to the committee for the invitation and congratulations on a well run show. It was a shame that this Premier show clashed not only with Blackpool but also with the Southern Dachshund Assoc Open Breed Show which undoubtedly affected the entry today. My thanks to those that entered and although it was a small entry all the dogs were well presented and a joy to go over.

Critiques for Labrador Retrievers at

Eastbourne & District Canine Society Premier Open Show – Sunday 26th June 2022

I would like to thank the officers and committee of Eastbourne & District Canine Society for inviting me to judge at their Premier Open Show.  My thanks to the exhibitors for their quality entry and the polite manner in which they accepted my placings, thank you to Mrs & Mrs Godden for providing the lovely rosettes and to Kent, Surrey and Sussex Labrador Retriever Club  for providing prize money for BOB, RBOB and BP, last but not least to Hils and Sam, my efficient ring stewards who managed the smooth running of my ring, whilst keeping me on the straight and narrow.

P (5 1) 1. Miss C Boulden’s Rumhill Firecracker.  9 month old chocolate dog, although stood alone well deserving of his placing. A broad head, correct scissor bite, good stop and eyes of correct colour, level across his back, short coupled, correct coat of even colour and good condition, with well wrapped tail, good bone, good leg length and nice tight feet.  BP

J (1)  1. Mrs J.D Elliott’s Cremino Country Trader at Lyndham.  Just turned 1yr of age, a pale yellow dog who was full of life.  A lovely broad head, correct scissor bite, kind expression and lovely pigmentation both around eye rims and nose, good angles both fore and aft, short coupled, coat in good condition, good leg length and, tail straight off back, an eager young dog who moved well.

PG (2)  1. Miss C Boulden’s Rumhill Emerald Star.  21 month old chocolate bitch in good condition with even colour to coat, nicely shaped feminine head with correct scissor bite, slightly lighter eye colouring, good rear angles with well wrapped tail and good tight feet; a demonstrably good natured Labrador, a close contender for best of breed.  RBOB

  1. Mrs E.J. Beecham’s Baileydale Rondo. 3 year old pale very active yellow bitch in very good condition and coat, a feminine head with good pigmentation around eyes, but could do with darker pigmentation on nose.  Correct scissor bite, good stop, difficult to accurately assess movement as she had her own ideas on how to move around the ring and stand.

O (2)   1.  Mrs E.J. Beecham’s Princess Leia at Baileydale (IMP ITA).  A pale yellow bitch of  approx. 4 ½ years with contrasting darker yellow ears, nice mature feminine head with well-defined stop, correct scissor bite and good pigmentation. Coat in good condition, well-shaped barrel ribs, good bone, well clothed tail, moved freely. BOB

  1. Miss C Boulden’s Rumhill Starry Night.  A quality black bitch of 4 years ,feminine head with good expression and correct scissor bite, not in her best coat today, but her other qualities compensated for this with good angles fore and aft, good bone, short coupling, correct tail set, defined barrel ribs, good movement and a very pleasing disposition, a nice bitch.

Mrs A. Felton-Page

Many thanks to the committee for inviting me to judge at this wonderful, well run, friendly show. Thank you to my most efficient steward, Justine who kept the ring ticking over and to the exhibitors who gave me the opportunity to judge their wonderful hounds.
